For immediate hire: Part-time Quickbooks Bookkeeper 20-30  hours/week. Flexible hours.

Reports to: Executive Director

Bright Road Recovery is an eating disorder treatment program in Claremont, CA. We are looking for a skilled bookkeeper, local to Claremont, CA (within 5 miles or so of the office) who can work mostly from home but spend some time (approx 4-12 hours) each week in the office, as needed.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Is obsessed with organized files
  • Has excellent communication skills (in person, on the phone and via email)
  • Has a sense of urgency about getting tasks done correctly and on time
  • Is highly detail-oriented
  • Double checks work for accuracy
  • Has 3-5 years experience and is highly proficient with Quickbooks desktop, Google platform applications
  • Has good working knowledge of accounting, debits/credits, journal entries, reconciliations, cashflow, financial reporting
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work collaboratively with our outside accounting/payroll provider
  • Is a self-starter, able to prioritize tasks and develop necessary processes
  • Able to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain financial records and systems on Quickbooks desktop
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Journal entry posting
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Coordinate with our tax preparer
  • Process payroll in a timely manner
  • Work closely with Executive Director on Cost Analysis
  • Process patient EOP statements
  • Monthly statements to patients
  • Record payments and make bank deposits
  • Maintain the petty cash fund
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Meets all requirements for confidentiality and for management of PHI, corporate, finance and personnel information including distribution controls, secure filing and disposal, and records retention and storage
  • Organizes workload throughout the day to meet project timelines and deadlines. Minimizes time spent on personal calls and matters. Meets attendance and punctuality requirements; reports time and attendance accurately
  • Assists tax preparer with compliance and timely filing of tax return information
  • Performs special projects related to company as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:

  • Has good general knowledge of computer operations; uses a keyboard and calculator proficiently and with a high degree of accuracy
  • Uses Microsoft Office Word and Excel as well as Internet and email programs proficiently, including Google platform applications
  • Uses typical office equipment

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk. Stands and walks throughout the day
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours or more each day
  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses and vision sufficient to use equipment
  • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and on the telephone
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs
  • Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly and 25 pounds occasionally
  • Exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels

MENTAL AND REASONING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Uses critical thinking skills to create documents and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Able to set goals based on available information and to plan work in order to meet deadlines. Able to project likely future occurrences based on current or historic data
  • Able to formulate appropriate responses to requests for services and information from internal or external customers
  • Uses excellent math skills to complete detailed quantitative work; checks for work errors and ensures work is corrected to a highly accurate final version

  • Proven bookkeeping experience required
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a love for numbers
